The Turkish Teachers Association of Victoria (TTAV Inc.) is a professional association for Turkish language teachers in Victoria.
In cooperation with its member associations, the TTAV supports teachers and learners of Turkish throughout Victoria by providing quality services, including professional development for teachers and learning opportunities for students. The TTAV aims to encourage and promote the learning of Turkish as an essential part of the school curriculum.
The Turkish Teachers Association of Victoria was formed on the 1970.
The association was created to help teachers specifically at a time when language teaching in general and Turkish teaching in particular was experiencing a somewhat negative environment. Its primary aims were, (and are), to help teachers, to disseminate ideas, to assist in curriculum planning and to provide on-going and relevant in-service activities. It also accepts a role of informing and responding to Government policy decisions which affect language teachers in our state.
The Turkish Teachers Association of Victoria has played an integral part in developing and implementing Turkish Language programs for primary and secondary school for many years. It has continued to work closely with the teachers to promote and develop better and more accessible programs for mainstream Australians who wish to learn Turkish.
Professional Development are part of our vision so teachers take turns in organising the relevant PD for teachers to keep them up to date with the new teaching practices.

Since the early days of our association, the language teaching and learning environment has changed considerably, and fortunately for the better. The TTAV continues to provide its service and assistance to all teachers of Turkish and in particular those who teach in the country. It provides an on-going program of iprofessional development to teachers, highlighting many aspects of the task, from conversation to curriculum planning with each new alteration to senior exams, and to students also in the form of forums, film days and the festivals.
The Presidents of our association have been, Mehmet Gune, Hasan Sayar, Mumtaz Erdem, Serpil Ozalp, Dilek Dereli, Mustafa Caksak and currently Dr Yaşar Duyal. Every year the burden of presidency grows larger and we are grateful to all our office-bearers, past and present, for their input of time and expertise.
